Hey I found your post on a stackoverflow question and I was wondering if you could answer a quick question for me.
What is the best book that I can get right now to help me learn c++?
I’ve read through Sams Teach Yourself C++ in one hour a day
and C++ Game Programming by Michael Dawson and thought I could attempt a 2d game. Mistake 1. Then I tried to get used to SFML. Mistake 2. I found your post and realized that my problem isnt my knowledge of game programming, its my knowledge of programming. Any tips on where to go from here? Also is it a good idea to read The C++ Programming Language right now? Or will it be too much at my level?

We have a C++ book list on SO, for you I would pick something out of Best Practices.
